So after losing 2 cars within a week and a half back in October , we are finally a two vehicle household again! Sent the Explorer to a trans shop last Monday and got it back today! Only 650 miles away from 200k

Is your rear plastic trim piece cracked in the usual spot? I feel like almost all of that generation of Exploder have bit the dust.

Hahaha yes it is! Need to comb a junkyard for an intact piece. I also need new front control arms and new tires but at least she runs and drives again

I saw someone made one out of aluminum once, I wonder if you can buy them online to replace it *permanently*

Thatd be pretty sweet. I know you can buy new panels but they're over 100 bucks on Rock Auto and I'm not about to pay that kind of money

Oh this is actually the 2nd replacement. Original trans went out at 150k, the that one went out at 199,300 lol
